Design and testing
The standard we aim for is WCAG 2.2 at the AA level, the guidelines issued by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C), in order that people who rely on a screen reader, a keyboard or a magnifier can use the site as well.
The measures, in short:
- Contrast between text and background checked
- Labeled form fields and plain error messages
- Real text throughout, never text baked into images
- Headings in a sensible order
- Full keyboard access, with the focus always shown
- Descriptive wording on every link and button
- Layouts that fit small screens and stay usable when zoomed
- Alternative text on photographs
There are two kinds of testing: software scans every page for accessibility problems, and every page is then checked at a desktop size and at a phone size. Both happen before each update goes online.
Limits and feedback
We have limits too. The text that describes a photo may not mention everything in it. Anything that stops you from using the site is a fault on our side, for us to fix.
To report a problem, e-mail office@maryvalelocksmith.com or call (623) 257-5892. Tell us the page and what happened. We will reply, and until it is fixed we can help you over the phone or by e-mail instead.
